Dots Memories comparison: check the tier and the audience

A Dots Memories comparison needs to separate general no-app messaging from the registration conditions of each plan. Compare guest capacity, video duration, viewing permissions and the archive workflow against your event. PhotosPlease provides a different collection model, but its public prices are not finalized and no automatic price advantage is claimed.

PhotosPlease and Dots Memories side by side

Details about Dots Memories were checked against its own public pages on 2026-10-16. They can change; confirm on its website before you decide.

Where Dots Memories is the better choice

  • Its published one-time packages provide a current purchasing route.
  • Its documented audience controls may already suit an existing Dots collection.

Read the plan-specific guest route

Dots Memories' official wedding-plan table, checked on 16 October 2026, distinguishes Intimate guest web access with registration from Classic and Luxe without registration. The same page uses broader no-registration wording elsewhere. Use the specific package details and confirm any inconsistency before sending instructions.

PhotosPlease's guest browser route does not require a guest account. It still depends on event availability, enabled uploads and suitable files. Account-free access is a useful characteristic, not proof that every guest will understand the collection without explanation.

Ask two first-time contributors to try the intended tier. Tell them only what your actual invitation will say and note whether they understand who can see their files. A demonstration in the host's signed-in browser will not reveal the same experience.

Capacity and media duration answer different questions

The checked Dots table lists 50, 175 and 350 guests across its three wedding tiers, with unlimited photo/video counts. It also lists two-minute videos for Intimate and Classic and five-minute videos for Luxe. Those conditions should be considered separately.

A large attendance list does not tell you how many people will contribute, and a duration allowance does not establish every file-size or codec rule. Ask how the provider counts participation and test the kind of clip you actually want to collect.

PhotosPlease uses file-size limits rather than promising those same duration allowances. The default video limit is 100 MB, and preserving an accepted file does not guarantee universal playback. Do not translate minutes into megabytes using an invented fixed conversion.

Compare audience controls before opening the collection

Dots' FAQ describes a host-only viewing mode while others can upload, along with participant management. That means a fair comparison should not portray the service as necessarily showing every contribution to every guest.

PhotosPlease provides host moderation and guest gallery controls. A future film-roll reveal also affects guest viewing and the slideshow. Test all intended settings together rather than checking each switch in isolation.

Write down the desired audiences: who contributes, who reviews, who browses and who sees a live screen. These roles may overlap, but making them explicit prevents a private intake from becoming a wider gallery by accident.

Treat the price as a dated offer, not the whole decision

The official page displays one-time euro prices and says there are no automatic renewals. The separate pricing guide on this site records the plan amounts. Confirm the current checkout, selected tier and final total directly instead of relying on a remembered figure.

PhotosPlease has no finalized public paid price. It also does not promise perpetual hosting merely because the planned plans include storage periods. A numeric comparison would be premature until the actual offer is confirmed.

Include the effort of setup, moderation and downloading in your decision. Those tasks can matter more than a small headline difference, especially if the wedding website and printed instructions already point to a working collection.

Verify the archive route and the timeline

Dots' current FAQ describes bulk and selected downloads. Check what your chosen plan permits and whether the exported files include the context you want to preserve. Photo files, contributor messages and album organization need not be identical parts of an export.

Our ZIP downloads on paid plans contain received originals. There is no automatic Dots import or synchronization, so moving an existing collection would require an authorized manual transfer and a reconciliation step.

Ask about upload, viewing and storage dates that are not clearly established for your package. An unanswered term should remain a question, not become a confident claim that access is unlimited or that a feature is unavailable.

Choose the smallest change that solves the problem

If Dots already fits your guests and the only issue is an unclear message, revise the message before replacing the service. A second album can split contributions and create duplicate requests.

If you do move, explain what happens to earlier uploads, which link is authoritative and whether guests need to take any action. Keep the source collection available until you have verified the authorized archive and understood any cancellation or access consequences.

This guide is a documentation-based decision aid. It does not report paid testing, customer satisfaction scores or measured reliability differences, and it does not imply affiliation with the competitor.

From PhotosPlease

PhotosPlease as a separate, host-managed collection

Guests can upload through a browser link or QR code without accounts. Hosts manage media review and viewing, and paid plans support original-file ZIP downloads, browser audio and a live still-photo feed.

The app does not automatically migrate Dots albums, create a finished recap video or guarantee unlimited duration clips. Final commercial terms remain pending. Compare the actual workflow with the selected Dots tier rather than treating similar marketing language as identical functionality.

Questions and answers

Does every Dots plan have the same registration rules?

No. The checked plan table distinguishes guest web registration by tier, even though broader wording on the page is less specific. Confirm the selected package and test it before printing instructions. Do not generalize from one plan to the entire service.

Are guest limits the same as photo limits?

No. Participant capacity, file count, duration and storage are different constraints. Use an event brief that covers all of them and ask how the provider measures each. A claim about unlimited media does not answer how many people can join.

Can guests contribute without seeing the full album?

The checked Dots FAQ describes a host-only viewing option, and PhotosPlease also has host-controlled viewing. Test the actual configuration in the service you choose. Make the audience clear in the contribution request rather than relying on a setting guests cannot see.

Can PhotosPlease import a Dots album?

PhotosPlease has no automatic importer. Retrieve authorized source files, check a sample and transfer them manually if necessary. Preserve messages and other context separately where they are not included in the export, and avoid closing the source before verification.

Is PhotosPlease cheaper than Dots Memories?

No substantiated price advantage can be calculated while our public prices remain unsettled. Compare confirmed offers when available. The useful current distinction is the guest, host and archive workflow, not an invented discount against a competitor.

What should we confirm before purchasing?

Confirm the guest route, media restrictions, viewing audience, download rights and actual access dates for the selected package. Then run a representative contribution and export test. Keep any provider clarification with the event paperwork so the archive owner can act on it later.
