Wedding video uploads: what guests and hosts should know
Wedding video uploads are supported in PhotosPlease when the host enables videos and the file meets the configured format and size limits. Guests use the normal media upload route, not the still-photo disposable camera. Keep the original clip until transfer is confirmed, and test playback separately on the devices that matter.
Check whether the event accepts videos
Video support is not only a property of the service; the host can also configure the event. Confirm that videos are enabled before asking guests to select clips. If the upload screen only offers still photographs, check that they entered the general collection route rather than a camera-only feature.
In PhotosPlease, the disposable-camera route is for photographs. The ordinary guest media route can accept videos when the event allows them. Keeping those instructions separate prevents a guest from assuming that an unavailable video button means the entire service lacks video support.
Understand the accepted containers
PhotosPlease accepts MP4, M4V, MOV and WebM video files, subject to content validation. Those names identify file containers, not a promise that every possible codec inside them will play on every device. A file can be accepted for storage while a particular browser cannot display it.
Do not solve a rejected format by changing the letters after the filename. Renaming does not convert the media, and PhotosPlease checks what the file actually contains. If a conversion is necessary, create a separate copy with a suitable tool and retain the source. Avoid repeatedly recompressing the only version.
Use file size, not duration alone
A short clip can be large if recorded at a high resolution or frame rate. Conversely, a longer clip may be smaller after compression. The relevant upload limit is the actual file size, so telling every guest that a fixed number of minutes will fit is unreliable.
PhotosPlease currently accepts videos up to 100 MB per file; this limit may change. Check the actual service's message and limits. Unlimited upload count in a plan would not remove this individual file restriction or make a weak connection faster.
Suggest clips that are easy to contribute
Ask for brief, intentional moments rather than uninterrupted recordings of the entire event. A short greeting, a few seconds of atmosphere or a particular memory can be useful without creating a huge transfer. This is an editorial suggestion, not a technical duration guarantee.
Guests should keep their attention on the event and their surroundings. Do not ask them to film while walking backwards, obstructing a photographer or ignoring an unplugged ceremony request. Good collection instructions make room for people who prefer to participate without recording.
Let the transfer finish before leaving the page
Use a reliable connection, select a manageable batch and wait for completion. If the file is stored in a cloud photo library, the device may need to obtain it before uploading. A visible thumbnail does not necessarily mean the full clip is immediately available locally.
An interrupted upload may need to start again. PhotosPlease retries a whole file rather than resuming from the exact point where the connection stopped. It does not promise background transfer after a browser closes or an offline queue that sends later. Keep the source clip and return to the collection when connectivity is stable.
Separate receipt, preview and playback
The host should check that the uploaded item is present before diagnosing a display problem. A video preview image is not the whole video, and a missing poster does not necessarily mean the original is absent. Conversely, seeing a poster does not prove a long clip plays all the way through.
PhotosPlease stores the uploaded original without transcoding it into a universal playback format. Test the actual clip on the intended phone, computer or reception display. If you prepare a more compatible viewing copy, keep it distinct from the original archive and check that the edit has not changed the meaning of the recording.
Choose the viewing audience before collecting voices and faces
Video can capture conversations and background details that a still photograph would miss. Explain whether clips are for the couple, invited guests or a live display. Ask before recording a personal message and avoid uploading private conversations that happened to be audible.
A speech recording may also include people or material governed by separate agreements. Do not assume that possession of a file permits unrestricted public reuse. Review the intended audience with the people involved and keep a smaller approved highlights selection separate from the complete collection.
Explain a failed clip without asking for a new recording
A useful support note describes the device, approximate file size, file type and exact message shown. The guest does not normally need to recreate the moment. Ask them to retain the recording while the host checks the collection and configuration.
If another transfer route is needed, agree who will receive the source and how it will enter the archive. Keep any smaller gallery copy labelled as a viewing version. That prevents a convenient short edit from silently replacing the complete recording the guest intended the couple to keep.
From PhotosPlease
Collect videos alongside guest photographs
PhotosPlease supports a shared event collection for photographs and permitted video files, with host controls and plan-dependent original ZIP export. Video must be enabled for the event, and file limits still apply. The app is not a live-streaming service, a full video editor or a universal transcoder. Use it to receive and organize source clips, then choose any additional editing workflow separately.
Questions and answers
Can guests upload videos to the wedding photo app?
Yes, through the normal media route when videos are enabled for the event. The file must pass type and size checks. The disposable-camera feature is a separate still-photo workflow.
What is the maximum video size?
Currently 100 MB per video; this limit may change. Follow the limit shown by the actual service rather than treating these planned limits as final.
Why does an MP4 upload but not play?
MP4 is a container and can hold different codecs. PhotosPlease does not transcode every clip for universal playback. Check the original on a compatible device and prepare a separate viewing copy if needed.
Can a guest upload a complete ceremony recording?
Only if the event settings, file format, size and permissions allow it. Long recordings may be better transferred through a separate appropriate route. Do not assume the gallery accepts unlimited file sizes.
Will uploads continue when the guest closes the browser?
That are not offered. Keep the page open until confirmation, retain the original and retry from a stable connection if the transfer is interrupted.
Does the app make a wedding highlight film?
PhotosPlease has no full editing workflow. Hosts can collect and download source clips where their plan allows, then use a separate editor to create a deliberate finished film.
